Q & A
How does it feel to have this story published for the first time?
Beyond wonderful, I've only been writing creatively for two years, and to see something come out in print is uplifting and affirming.
What inspired the idea for your story?
Godzilla meets The Mist. A king in one world loses his crown in another.
We know that writing can be a tumultuous journey with a lot of obstacles, what is your kryptonite as a writer?
Not having something to write on. Honestly, if it's something I can invest myself in then there's no obstacles.
Clearly, you’ve succeeded at writing a captivating story for GrendelPress, but we all start somewhere. What advice would you give yourself as a young writer?
You should have started sooner, dumbass!
We’d like to argue that every good story makes both the author and the readers feel something. What perspectives or beliefs have you challenged with your story?
Complacency, the stability of reality
What do you love most about your story’s genre?
That anything can happen to anyone at any time.
Tell us about your favorite author. What about their book(s) call to you and how do they inspire your own writing?
James Ellroy: love the voice, the alternative history, the grimness. I learned a lot about converging plot lines from him.
What are some other genres you’d like to break into and why?
Extreme and splatter horror, which I am making headway in.
If you had to pick another story of yours to share with your readers, what would it be?
Probably part of the Buck Neighkyd series in Caveman Magazine. Buck is an ex porn star turned occult investigator. I could listen to his adventures even if I hadn't written them.
